Helen Pyatt Dry

Helen Pyatt Dry, age 79, of Eureka, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, died in the Eureka Hospital on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at 9:57 a.m.
Helen was born on March 1, 1920 in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Cunningham) Pyatt.  She married John Maurice Dry in Pinckneyville on March 15, 1942 and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1999.  Helen worked as a teacher for 31 years before retiring from the Pinckneyville Community High School in 1978.  She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Pinckneyville, the Perry County Homemakers, the retired teachers association and was a 4-H leader.  She was also active in AAUW and served on the Perry County Extension Council in various offices.
Survivors include a son, Frank Dry and wife Shirley of Roanoke, IL; a daughter, Marilyn Sue Stringer and husband Steve of Vienna; four grandchildren, Melissa Dry of Urbana, Julie Dry of Davenport, IA, Amber Stringer and Amy Stringer, both of Vienna; a sister, Eleanor Kasten and husband Mike of Madison, IL and a niece, Kay Sundval and husband Ken of Nevis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son in infancy.
Funeral services were on Thursday, February 10, 2000 in the First United Presbyterian Church in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Piscatelli and Rev. Richard Paddon officiating.  Interment was in the Galum Presbyterian Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Visitation was on Wednesday, February 9 from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville and at the First United Presbyterian Church on Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Mary Kuykendall-Carpenter Heart Fund, The First United Presbyterian Church or the Illinois FFA Foundation.
